Better mad with the rest of the world than wise alone.

Water.

Such a thoughtless necessity to cling ones existence on. Even beasts do not easily slip from it's grasp without a fight, without facing the void as a price. It was not something he desired, as his heart was set on something else - something far more inaccessible than immortality. With a silent stroke of his wings, he touched the grass once more, feeling the hardened soil push against scaled feet. For a moment he paused before his wings settled upon his back, a sideways glance thrown over the still lake while the stars shone bright in the night sky.

Silence.

Good. Ice blue eyes was again fixed on the waters edge, the finish line within reach. He would stay here tonight, for as long as the darkness would hide him, then he would return to the ever shifting skies and the mercy of the elements. But for now he would drink and bathe, forcing the dust from his scales in a less than elegant manner.

Though it is difficult to tell in the darkness of the night sky, the clouds above are thick with thunder.  No rain appears to fall, however, as electricity crackles in the air.  Nevertheless, every so often, the sky vibrates with sound.  Lightning proceeds each ground-shaking boom, and it is under the cover of one of the latter eruptions that Yza lands soundlessly in the brush surrounding the lake.  She is making no attempt to hide herself from the dragon, though she sees him.  It's always a shock, at first, to chance upon another of her species -- this time, particularly, as she had simply been intending to stop for a drink and move on.  Now, she's curious.

The clouds, in her absence, begin to disperse.  It's a rather strange occurrence, if only to the calculating eye.  To most beings, it only appears as a random storm dispersing.  In truth, it had been a great dragon's cover to move from one location to another. Similarly, the winds around Yza begin to move in place of the activity in the sky.  They are slightly more frantic than usual, which is unique.  Though she is relatively calm, she is nervous to meet another dragon.  As such, her passive ability has the air twirling in arabesques around her, coiling around what portions of her serpentine body that they can. She takes her time approaching Tyr, allowing for him to become aware of her at any point he chooses.  Yza is taking no precautions to mask her appearance or arrival, and when - at last - he's in full view, she watches him in silence, communicating only moments later.

"greetings," her inner voice offers the polite acknowledgment. "is this your territory?" it is thoughtful to ask.  she is in no mood to come to blows, after all.

Better mad with the rest of the world than wise alone.

Waves.

Then the sky screams. Slowly the dragon lifts it's feathered head. Could it be? Long has the time been when he last saw a beast, their memory almost lost behind blue eyes. Was it? The chillness is forgotten while wet land again holds all his weight. Another scream. Drawing in the cool air gives only a hint of what is to come, as his lungs is filled once again.

Like stone he stands at the water's edge when the truth is finally unveiled. There it is. Fire colored feathers on his crown is raised, before a step is taken. He must collect himself. And he does. With a bow of his head, he acknowledges it's presence and rids himself of all precautions he had been bound by moments before.

"Would you stay if it was?"

Do not let there be silence.

Not again.

No one can see your true colors. No one cares. Drops peel of the scales, in a fearful competition to reach the earth and get drawn into roots. The ground is still there, with all the dead and living alike. He breathes, claims his full height in what could be an eternity, and comfort himself with glass like wings. It does not matter. Nothing does.

his reaction to her arrival puzzles yza.  for a while, she merely watches, unblinking, trying to make sense of his existence.  this is the burden of her isolation.  their kind is so thinly stretched, so exiled to the far corners of the world, that she rarely shares the company of other dragons.  she has only ever known the embrace of her mother, and the warmth of her clutchmate.  to share a space with a creature that is not of her immediate family leaves her feeling inelegant and crude, as though all intelligible words or coherent thought have fled.  she straightens slightly, righting her posture where she may be unable to perfect her manner of speech.

"i do not trespass," she answers honestly, shaking her head slowly as she does. "but it is nice to see another like me." this confession intends to promote a sense of vulnerability that she hadn't originally intended.  the sensation crawls uncomfortably beneath her scales, burrowing into flesh and bone until it sets her teeth on edge.  yza's ears lie back on a whim, and the air around her picks up only momentarily.  it settles quickly, leading her to bolster her resolve.  she will not be seen as weak in this dragon's eyes.

"what are you called?" the conversation diverts, taking another path.  yza, too, alters her posture to appear as large as she truly is -- to appear strong (stronger than she feels in this deeply personal moment).

Oh,
what have we become when one fears another? Same blood and flesh, same magic in runs in the veins, and yet - yet there is fear.

The white fire, the light that keeps him alive, is close to burst, even after honest words hit him like a diamond wall. What have we become? Silently he watches the same same feelings clawing at her as they do at him. Always clawing, deeper and deeper, until nothing but paranoia is left. There it was again. As dust again falls, his deep voice cuts through the air.

"Do not fear me, dear one. I mean no harm upon you or anyone else."

Strong muscles hidden by feathers force his head down in a nod yet again. Maybe courtesy will keep their hearts beating for yet another day. Mid bow his movement stops and blue eyes flicker over her being. Scaled lips part, then is closed a moment later, until he lifts his head.

 "I am.. Tyr."

The words do not come out lightly as they feel unnatural and foreign. Has it been that long?

 "What is yours?"
